Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special is an ISO Grade 220, NLGI No. 2, molybdenum disulfide fortified, extreme-pressure premium grease. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special is formulated with a high quality lithium complex soap thickener and a special high-tack polymer to ensure good resistance to softening under severe working, excellent adhesion, and a uniform consistency over the recommended operating temperature range of -20°OC to 150°OC (-4°OF to 300°OF). Fling-off resistance and sealing properties are also excellent. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special ontains 0.75% micronized molybdenum disulfide that plates-out from the grease and forms an adhering film on metallic surfaces, reducing coefficient of friction. This film and the extreme-pressure additives provide protection against scoring and wear under boundary ubrication conditions. Other formulation characteristics include superior water tolerance, high temperature oxidation resistance, and good pumpability by service station dispensing systems. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special passes the ASTM D 1743 Corrosion Protection test and will not corrode steel or copper.
Application
Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special is an extended lubrication interval grease recommended for the lubrication of automotive chassis fittings and wheel bearings. It also performs well as a multipurpose grease for marine craft, farm, fleet, and contractor equipment. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special is particularly recommended for heavily loaded suspension bearings where sliding or oscillation occurs, or where the equipment manufacturer specifies a grease containing molybdenum disulfide. It will maintain an effective lubricating film over extended periods and contribute to reduced steering effort when used in the suspension ball joints of passenger cars and light trucks, the kingpins of heavy trucks, and the fifth wheels of tractor trailers.
